DYSON LOVES HER FISH

STALKING THE WILD FIELD MOUSE

Hello from Upstate New York!

After losing my beloved Bluetick, Maybelline, to lymphoma, the house just wasn't the same without a Coonie. As luck would have it, I discovered the AB&TC Rescue's web site and there she was, a beautiful Coonie girl. I adopted Dyson (formerly Olive) approximately 6 weeks ago and she has been wonderful. She gets along beautifully with her sisters, Bissell (beagle/basset mix) and Kirby (basset hound). Yes, they are all named after vacuum cleaners.....that's what hounds do!

Dicie adjusted quickly to the household, figured out the doggy door within minutes and got used to the fact that Mom goes to work in the morning and comes home in the afternoon. When I pull in the driveway, they all come out through the doggy door yawning, which tells me what they've been doing all day. That's when they get their second wind and the fun begins.....running through the yard, wrestling, destroying stuffy toys and galloping through the house. I have to watch that I don't get run over!

She is still skittish with new people, but her "warm up" time has decreased significantly, especially when there are treats involved. Now it takes less than 30 seconds for her to be draped in someone's lap looking for cuddles.

Her favorite spot is right next to me in my computer nook where she can look out the window, protect the homestead, and say "hello" to the passers by in her own Coonie fashion. One person actually asked me if I had a foghorn up here.

All in all, I couldn't have asked for a better dog with a better disposition. Thanks to AB&TC Rescue for my little sweetheart!!
