It's hard to imagine that we have had Belle for nearly 5 years now...She continues to be the sweetest and most loving dog. This year she has discovered a new talent....DIGGING. I don't know why it took her this long to discover digging, she seems to be quite proud of the holes, too! She will come running into the house with the "come and see what I've done" look. I think maybe its just fun for her to watch me fill it back in...she even has a new friend as you can see in one of the pictures.
She still enjoys her playtime in the evenings and her morning walks, and has now become quite the social butterfly having to stop and investigate everyone who walks in the mornings, and has even broken down the barrier of fear in several people who were terrified of dogs until they met her. We continue to champion the Coonhound Rescue group to anyone who is interested in adopting a dog.

We are just sending an update on Belle. She is just the sweetest dog. She has come a very long way in these past 3 years. She has come from a dog I could barely get to walk down our street or pass a running car to a girl that can't wait to get out of the house. She greets me of the evening with coonie howls and wants us to join in with a good sing, loves a good game of keep away, Keeps the neighbors fully aware that there is a cat in the area, the meter reader is around and when a stranger is walking up the street, and for some reason we can't figure out she really hates the UPS truck whether they are stopping here or just driving by she growls like the meanest yard dog you could imagine until they have gone. We could not imagine not having her in our life.

Belle (Formerly Superstar) and her family want to send New Year wishes to everyone. She has been with us for 2 years now and is the calmest and sweetest dog one could ever want. She turns heads whenever we are out for a walk and constantly children come up to ask questions about her. The most asked question is why her ears are so long... She is a good ambassador for the breed. We always tell those who show interest in her to check out the web site.

Just wanted to send an update on Belle. She has become the sweetest
dog. Actually she is my velcro dog...ha! She had a lot to overcome when
we first got her back in November of 2006. She is still rather timid
around people, it takes her a very long time to warm up to people
outside of our family. After we brought her home and began with her
daily walks we were lucky to get her to go one loop around the park,
constantly jumping and in flight mode at the slightest noise. Now she
walks nearly the whole subdivision and at times still has a little
flight mode but is doing very well. She didn't know what it was to play
and it took me the better part of 8 months or so to find something that
would interest her, but once we hit on it, now we have playtime every
evening. If I forget that it is playtime she definitely reminds me. What
a difference love and patience makes, and the rewards you receive back
in love and companionship. As you can see in the pics she is one really
laid back dog. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to have this
beautiful girl. I'm sure she thanks you too!

It's been 2 weeks now since we brought Superstar home. We did rename her "Belle". I wanted to let you know how she is progressing, and I've attached some pics for you to see how beautiful she is becoming. She had her follow-up 2 week visit with the Vet on Friday. Her eyes are finally infection free, and her ears are totally healed. She has now gained weight to 64.3 pounds and looking much better. Still has some issues with itchy skin, but is coming along well there too. He commented that she seemed much more relaxed this time. I'm sure they will become good friends...LOL
We have discovered that this is one smart cookie...she watches what you do very intently and tries to figure things out. She sat and watched Bill open and shut the gate latch the other day to the point we decided that we had to put a latch through the hole to keep her from nuzzling it up...She picked up her empty bowl from the container that it sets on in the pantry and set it on the floor and then looked up at me as if to say where is the food? This evening she actually turned her back to Bill and pouted because he wouldn't give her a bite of what he was eating. So funny. She has settled into the house nicely and doing great with what she can and can't do.
