AB&TC MEMORIAL - ELWOOD

The Day He Was Rescued

His Favorite Position

I just wanted to let you know that I had to put Elwood to sleep this evening; he was the best dog I ever had. The vet found a massive tumor on his spleen that had ruptured and he had internal bleeding. He was losing blood pressure and his core temperature was dropping. They could have done surgery, but there was also a high risk of cancer and a slim chance of a full recovery, so I decided not to prolong any discomfort and put him to sleep. This was very sudden as he was his usual active self when I left for work that morning. Even the staff mentioned how sweet, affectionate and beautiful he was. When the vet administered the drugs to euthanize, he was in my lap gently wagging his tail. He was that one dog that stood way above the rest... losing Elwood was hard.

Thank you for allowing me to rescue him and enjoy the six years I had with him.
