Manny was a dog in a million. He was the perfect puppy and grew into an amazingly smart and empathic dog. He was a gorgeous dog, so tall, and he weighed nearly 100 pounds. People would stop us on walks to tell us how handsome he was. It's no wonder he acquired a wardrobe of collars, including seasonal ones, like his Thanksgiving collar with turkeys on it. He was incredibly gentle (except to squirrels, and he also did not like coyotes) and full of enthusiasm and joy. He'd do a happy dance in anticipation of treats, walks, or even just outings into the backyard. He was the funniest dog, like when he'd sit in front of the TV and wave his paw at us to let us know he needed to go outside. He had a talent for disappearing in our yard, which was a good trick for such a large hound. Even though he was so big, I think he always wished he was a small dog since he loved cuddling on the sofa. He would get down very low or roll over to let small children pet him. We all miss him so much, both his humans and his fellow coonhound buddies Oliver and Honey. We had him for just about 11 and a half years, which was not nearly enough time. He was my trouble-free dog, healthy for most of his life, until the final week. We tried all the options available and found him the best care, but more investigation just showed us how sick he was. We tried until there were no more options to try. He passed peacefully at home with his humans beside him, petting him and telling him he was a very good boy. Manny, we will love you forever and never forget you.
