MEET KOOPER — Professional Napper, Part-Time Donkey & Full-Time Best Friend

Looking for a dog who will love you with his whole heart, follow you everywhere, and occasionally make you wonder if someone snuck a donkey into your house? Meet Kooper.

Kooper — also known as Mr. Kooper, Koop Koop, Koop, Super Kooper, and Sir Koops-a-Lot — is a 5-year-old Black and Tan Coonhound with impossibly soft, extra-long ears, soulful eyes, and an adorable little overbite that causes his tongue to stick out.

And then there’s his voice.

Kooper doesn’t simply bark. Kooper BAYS. And somehow, this big hound dog manages to sound remarkably like a donkey. His signature HEE-HAW-AROOOOO is just one of the many things that makes him unforgettable.

But underneath that big hound voice is an incredibly sweet, gentle soul.

Kooper’s résumé includes:
House trained
Walks wonderfully on a leash
Gets along extremely well with other dogs
Wonderful with kids
Hasn’t met a human he doesn’t like
No signs of food or toy guarding
Learning commands and eager to please
Expert-level napper with ridiculously sweet snores
Cats are currently unknown
Permanent adorable tongue peek courtesy of his overbite
Would really just like to be wherever his people are

Kooper is the kind of dog who doesn’t need to be the center of the action — he just wants to be included in it. If you’re on the couch, he’d like to be nearby. If you’re walking, he’s ready to come along. If you’re eating dinner, he’ll graciously allow you to have some of your own food... although he feels strongly that sharing would be the polite thing to do. He’ll ask with those big hound eyes, but he’s never aggressive about it.

Most of the day, Kooper is perfectly content sleeping, snoring, lounging, and keeping his people company. Then he’ll wake up, unfold those magnificent ears, flash you his little tongue, and remind you why you fell in love with him.

Kooper does have some allergies, but we’re working on getting them under control. They certainly haven’t stopped him from being the happy, affectionate gentleman that he is.

What Kooper really needs isn’t complicated.

He needs a family.

A family who will appreciate his goofy hound personality. A soft place to sleep. Walks and adventures. Maybe a dog sibling. People to follow from room to room. Someone willing to scratch those enormous ears.

And, according to Kooper, a reasonable percentage of whatever you’re eating.

If you’ve been waiting for a gentle, hilarious, floppy-eared best friend who will love your family, serenade your neighborhood, and snore his way through most of the afternoon... Super Kooper might just be your guy.
