Orvis

Orvis is a Redtick Coonhound, or more formally, an American English Coonhound, and estimated to be around 8 months old. Weighing about 50 pounds, he’s a long, lean, and lanky, happy go lucky, hound puppy.
Orvis found himself in the shelter with his four siblings, who were reportedly strays. Fortunately, thanks to an incredible volunteer effort, all five siblings made it out of the shelter and into rescue.
Compared to his brother Perry, who is being fostered with him in Virginia, Orvis is the more independent of the two. He’s curious and loves to follow his nose and explore his environment. He is also incredibly sweet and affectionate and is just as happy giving affection as he is receiving it.
Orvis loves to run and play and has done really well playing with the other dogs in his foster home. His favorite toy is pretty much anything he can grab and run around with.
Orvis spent about a month in the shelter, and his foster home is likely his first experience living inside a house. He’s quickly learning his manners, and would thrive with an adopter willing to teach him. A basic obedience class would be awesome for him. He is crate trained, sleeps through the night, and is making good progress with house training.
Orvis is young and very impressionable. He’s a curious, active young hound who will benefit from continued training, consistency, and new experiences. He is full of potential—and he’s at a great age to learn.
He will be ready to go to his forever home after his neuter on 8/20.
