Orvis

Orvis is an American English Coonhound (Redtick Coonhound) estimated to be around 8–9 months old, now weighing approximately 55–60 pounds. He’s long, lean, lanky, and on the more laid-back side for a young hound—but he is still very much a big, playful puppy.

Orvis found himself in the shelter with his four siblings, who were reportedly strays. Fortunately, thanks to an incredible volunteer effort, all five siblings made it out of the shelter and into rescue.

Orvis is a loving boy with an independent streak. He’s curious, likes to follow his nose and explore, and is also very affectionate with his humans. He loves to run and play, does well playing with the other dogs in his foster home, and his favorite toy is pretty much anything he can grab and run around with.

Orvis is a bit of a gentle bull in a china shop. He doesn’t quite realize how big he is and is still figuring out how to navigate the world with those long legs and growing body. He is very capable of learning, but he’s at an age where an adopter needs to be willing to teach and consistently reinforce good manners. A basic obedience class would be great for him.

Orvis is crate trained, sleeps through the night, and is doing well with house training.

He is still young and very impressionable and would love a family willing to show him the world. He’s curious and ready for new experiences, and with consistency, training, and plenty of opportunities to explore, Orvis has a lot of potential to grow into your perfect companion.
