Eden the Elf

Eden (better known as “Eden the Elf”, “Elfie” and “Snarky Barky”) was adopted on September 29, 2016 and went to the Rainbow Bridge on July 17, 2026.

For just under 10 years Eden was my faithful companion and literally always by my side or had me within her sight. Eden had a severe case of separation anxiety; working with a vet behaviorist we found a way to manage her anxiety and give her a great life. Getting Eden to use her nose in scent work and tracking helped to build her confidence. She was my Dad’s and my NY Giant football therapy dog. She loved carbs, especially pizza crusts. She liked meandering in our yard and barely tolerated me taking pictures of her especially pictures of her by “her flowers” – Amaryllis blooms. And she loved to steal my seat on the couch if I got up. She didn't want to cuddle, but she wanted her butt to be warm.

Eden was sassy. She had a bandana that said “I like to bark, barking is my favorite” and that was so true especially in the car! The local Culver’s drive thru team knew us as “barking dog car” and friends and family knew we were coming from miles away. Everyone who knew us said that Eden landed with the perfect person to help her with her issues. I like to think Eden was the dog that gave me a better understanding of dog behavior and expanded my “toolbox” on how to better advocate for dogs and to be a better pet parent.

Channeling Van Morrison: Elfie - I hope you enjoyed your journey on “The Bright Side of the Road” and thank you for being there as we “shared our load”. The time seems to go by so fast - in the twinkling of an eye.
